Maybe this is related to the plugin file size. Same thing happened here with the Postmaster plugin. It installed fine on texdrive but refused to install, with the same error, on another host (MySQL5). When the plugin was split in a plugin and a library file all problems where gone.

I can indeed reproduce the error on the two hosts I mentioned exactly as it was with the Postmaster install error. That was solved by splitting up the plugin.

Edit: I think the plugin size indeed exceeds the limitations of the plugin table field in MySQL. But why it is installing fine on a host with MySQL4 and not on a MySQL5 database I do not understand. Altering the table as sugested here is indeed a good workaround.

katching — dropped some more cash.. :)

BTW, noticed you’re using Scriptaculous.. have you considered using jQuery? Personally, I prefer its smaller filesize and since other TXP plugins already use it, it would be great to avoid the overlap that adding Prototype/Scriptaculous too would mean. Just an idea.. Keep up the good work!

I agree with Anton regarding jQuery.

Anyway I’m really looking forward to see this plugin in action when finished. Keep up the good work!

Just an update on the plugin size issue: Altering the table in the db as suggested earlier is not fixing the problem… Will try switching to MySQL 4.x.x and see if that makes a difference. Oops. Can’t change the MySQL version… Unless someone can tell me how to insert the plugin directly in the table via PHPMyAdmin, I guess I’m stuck for the moment…

Thanks

Re: Thinking about building an e-commerce plugin...

Wow, just came across this post and I must say that this is one of the best things that could happen to Textpattern! I’m ready to pay for this solution once it’s usable. I’ll text the alpha version soon.

Re: Thinking about building an e-commerce plugin...

Levi,

Cheers to you! This is some amazing work! Donation on the way very soon.

OK. So now for a small problem.
I’ve just installed the latest build…and all went well.
However, when I try to add a category it takes me to the categories tab, but no options to add a category to the store. Also, won’t let me create a vendor.

Everything else seems to be working properly

Any thoughts?

Anyone else run into this?

Using ln_txp_commerce v0.0.6.7
and scriptaculous-js-1.7.0

Thanks

Tom

It works though. There’s Levi’s answer to this somewhere earlier in this thread.

Re: Thinking about building an e-commerce plugin...

rr,
Are you saying that’s all the further it’s been developed? I’m not sure I found an answer in the thread to this particular issue.
I can’t create categories or vendors….sounds like other users are able to do that.

Re: Thinking about building an e-commerce plugin...

Gee, I can’t remember exactly how it was done, but I’m sure the instructions are somewhere in this thread. I’d look it up for you but I just don’t have the time right now.

If I remember correctly, it is done in the normal category admin view. Create a category and simply select it in the product info panel. Something like that. Sorry for being so vague. Gotta run…
