Link to subcategories?
If I have a category called “Creative Writing” that has subcategories of “Essays” “Stories” and “Poetry”… and I never post articles directly to “Creative Writing” then when someone clicks on the category “Creative Writing” they get a blank page. I’d like to have the subcategories listed, and/or listed with article exerpts… can I do that?
(I’m using wow_menu by the way and I have my reasons for using categories instead of sections)

Re: Link to subcategories?
Since you’re using a plugin, you’d probably better ask this in the plugin thread, but otherwise you could use txp:category_list: <txp:category_list parent="creative-writing" exclude="creative-writing" />

Re: Link to subcategories?
Well the plugin is just for the menu in the sidebar. I am not trying to do anything with the menu so it seems like asking in the plugin thread wouldn’t make sense. I was just mentioning the menu because that’s what people are clicking on to get to the categories—I brought it up only to head off anyone trying to suggest some workaround using sections instead, since my menu points people to categories. I’m looking for how to display lists of articles on my category pages.
Ok, so I have about 6 of these categories that I want to show subcategories for. 5 of them also have their own content, but one of them (creative writing) never does. What I want to do is have the article list for the subcategories show up on the parent category page, after any articles that are in that parent category itself. I will settle for just a category list of the subcategories if that is all I can get (sort of a “see also”) but I would really much, much rather have the excerpts of the articles themselves. Also, I’m not sure how to use the example you gave, since as I said it’s a number of different categories… like the Fun category should show its own content and then also show movies, tv, games, etc. The Health category should also show the contents of the Food subcategory… I’ve been playing around with <txp:if_category> but it seems to hate me and not want to do anything useful. (See thread here)
Edited because the link wasn’t clickable
