Turn comments off?

Hello,

I ‘d like to not use comments anywhere in the site.

In the admin panel I’ve set “Accept comments” to No, but the Comments link is still appearing on the homepage.

Please help me find where to turn this function off sitewide, or where to delete the code for the Comments link.

Thanks!

Re: Turn comments off?

There is no way to completely shut off comments per se. The best you can do is to turn them off by default (though individual articles may be exceptions, where you can turn them on) and then delete all the relevant code.

To turn comments off by default:

Admin —> Preferences —> Comments (toward the bottom) —> On by default? [Choose No]

The code for comments is found in various templates and/or forms (sorry, I deleted the templates that came out of the box ages ago and can’t be more specific), which can be found in the Presentation tab. Perhaps someone else can offer some more help here?

Re: Turn comments off?

Turning off comments is one of the mass editing features. Look at the dropdown in the articles tab.

Re: Turn comments off?

Hi,

I’ve just installed textpattern and testing out.

I’ve tried removing the comment link from the bottom of the page but it doesn’t seem to disappear.

In Preferences > Publish > Accept comments, I’ve switched it to ‘no’.

Why is the comment link still appearing?

Thanks,
Millo

Re: Turn comments off?

Setting ‘Automatically append comments to articles?’ to ‘no’ might help.

Did you switch off comments for that article?

Re: Turn comments off?

There is no switch for comments on each individual article if you switch it off globally (Preferences > Publish > Accept comments)
