Subscriptions, subscriber-only content, ecommerce and calendar
Man, I am about to install Drupal for a pro-bono site… Here are the basic site requirements (first two are the most important):
1. Subscriber-only section:
This section will have member-only articles and member-only article archives
2. Subscriptions:
New members would pay a small fee for a year/monthly subscription. This would give them access to the subscriber-only section. Paypal is acceptable — any tips on how to use TXP and Paypal for site subscriptions? I would love to hear what others have done in similar situations. Links to TXP sites that do this type of thing?
3. A market section:
For selling things… This is not crucial that TXP do this… I could opt for 3rd party app for this. Any suggestions?
4. Calendar:
Also not important for TXP to manage this, but would be cool. :)
Please tell me #1 and #2 are do-able using TXP??? I LOVE TXP!!!! Drupal looks like a beast!
Please help! :D
TIA!
Cheers,
M

Re: Subscriptions, subscriber-only content, ecommerce and calendar
I have heard these two plugins would work decently for member registration:
mem_self_register
ign_password_protect
Anyone used the above along with Paypal?
It seems like TXP would meet my needs. I just want to hear what the more experienced folks think.
Again, I really love TXP. Best cms I have used. :)

Re: Subscriptions, subscriber-only content, ecommerce and calendar
Or, maybe a better question… Does anyone know of any TXP sites that have these features setup? If so, would you mind sharing the link? :)
I hope I am not asking the wrong questions…
Drupal is the secondary pick for this pro-bono job… I have used TXP for one other site and it was great to work with. Drupal looks good too, but (on top of really liking TXP) I do not have time to learn a new system.
Hrmm, I wonder if there are any good third-party scripts for member login/registration/subscriptions?
Thanks again. :)

zem has a setup for subscription and PayPal payments. He’s also offering commercial services for Txp.

Re: Subscriptions, subscriber-only content, ecommerce and calendar
Hi wet! Thanks for the reply — I really appreciate the help. :)
Ahhh, that website is good to see! Paypal is definitely an acceptable setup for my needs…
Hehe, I think I will have to buy something from his site to see how the whole process works. For example, is it fully automated, or does a human have to manually setup the account once paypal sends a confirmation email?
Either way, it is great to see a TXP site setup with a paypal registration system… Looks good!
Hmm, I wonder if he would be willing to give me a few pointers if I email him?
Well, I would love to hear what others think. Anyone on the forums have first-hand experience when it comes to TXP and “subscribers”?
Thanks again wet!
Cheers! ;)
