Is there a way to pass a preset to the admin write tab?

I’d like to make a direct link to the write tab with a setting already set. Is there any way of passing additional information to the form via the url, e.g.:

http://local.mysite.org/textpattern/index.php?event=article&category=event

Reason: I’m trying to make it really easy for users by adding a link to the dashboard (using asy_dashboard) to “enter an event”.
In this case it’s just an article with the category set to “event”.

Hi mary, this isn’t really about asy_dashboard, it’s about passing information to the write tab. Perhaps it can go back?

I’ve reworded the first sentence to make that clearer.

Ah.

No, there isn’t a way to do that.
