Turning Off Moderate Comments in Textpattern 4.0.4
I’ve been looking through the post about turning off moderation of comments and could not find one that works for me. I’m running 4.0.4 and wish to disable the comments moderation so that comments will load without approval.

You haven’t turned off moderation from Admin>Preferences – “Moderate comments?” If you don’t see it, you might have a broken install. In that case, either reinstall or grab the latest development version (many bug fixes). Just install svn (terminal/command line version), and type svn export http://svn.textpattern.com/development/4.0/

Yes:
- Make sure you Back up your TXP database, just in case.
- Delete all the /textpattern, /index.php files you uploaded.
- Upload a new copy of Textpattern
- Instead of running setup, edit /textpattern/config.php and fill out your details.
Alternatively, you can run the the install script, then import your backed up sql file.

It’s generally not a good idea to advise people to use non-stable versions, or to re-install unless it is first deemed necessary.
In the Preferences screen, what options do you have in the Comments section?

Require user’s name?
Require user’s e-mail address?

That is your Advanced Preferences. Your comment preferences should show up in the first prefs page, under Permlink mode, Site name, etc. Check the FAQ Els posted.
