background-image not working in comments

I’m trying to make my comments appear to be within a conversation bubble, using some graphics, divs, and CSS. But my graphics won’t appear as backgrounds of divs in my comment section! I don’t need specific guidance as to lining them up – I can do that – just to make them appear.

Incidentally, I haven’t been able to make a background image work in a couple other cases, but I’ve just given up. I do have some that work … but no idea what the difference is.

Example: here

In the end, the comment should look as if it’s inside this. I’m trying to make commenttop.gif appear in div class=“comment” and commentbottom.gif appear in div class=“commentfoot”.

Re: background-image not working in comments

You’re trying to link to images that don’t exist.

If you uploaded the image in Textpattern, it would be named after its ID #, e.g.: 2.gif.
