whats up with comments suddenly taking a long time to show up

I don’t understand why this is happening.

After upgrading to 4.0.4 it seems that comments take several minutes to actually show up on the page or in my recent comments sidebar.

I get the email right away that there’s a new comment. I can see the comment in the admin section.

But it doesn’t show up at the post for a while.

What’s the deal?

would browser caching be different now for some reason?

Yes, there are browser caching changes in 4.0.4. Check your ‘comment means site updated’ setting in advanced prefs.
