file_download_size translatable

The txp:file_download_size core tag use hardcoded English string for the size units (in taghandlers.php line 3069 I believe).

It should use a gettext and use i18n strings, please please please :)

Note for translators: it may be best to use an html tag, or even a simple span for them, with a descriptive title (KB in English might mean something for us geek, not for everyone on the web).

Re: file_download_size translatable

As far as I can guess, we’d need two strings for each type – singular and plural?

It depend on the languages I guess, does an abbreviation take a plural form or not.

Re: file_download_size translatable

If we’re talking abbreviations, then does it not remain KB, etc?

Re: file_download_size translatable

Nope. In French for example, byte = octet. So it’s abbreviated as ko, Mo, Go, etc.

Re: file_download_size translatable

Okay, does that hold true for other languages (I’m asking anyone)?

Re: file_download_size translatable

After doing some research on Wikipedia, most major languages seems to use either byte or a word starting in B, so the abbreviation stay B for most.

However, not all of these majors ones (and Wikipedia had only about 40 languages, there are of course much more than that). In addition to French, I’ve found these languages with (as far as I can tell, I’m not expert) have different abbreviation: Farsi (Persian), Arabic, Hebrew, Romanian, Ukrainian.
