txp:php doesn't work on Dreamhost? (and other problems)

Hi,
I actually have several problems that are seemingly related. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. Despite the fact that my Textpattern blog is set to allow raw PHP and the production status is set to “live” (which is supposed to suppress error messages, the documentation says), I still get a “Raw PHP tags are deprecated” error displayed on every page. I am in fact using raw PHP in my template, because…

2. The “txp:php” tags aren’t working, while “?php” does. Or, at the very least, variables are not working, just like the problem described in this blog post I found.

3. I am on Dreamhost. Could this be the cause? In my search for solutions, I came across several references to problems caused by Dreamhost running PHP as a CGI rather than an Apache module, though such things are way above my head.

Any ideas, short of removing the error message-generating code from Textpattern? The blog in question is here , if it helps any.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Please elaborate: what do you mean by “variables are not working”?

The problem is most likely in your PHP code. See the FAQ for info.

Thanks for the link; somehow I missed the section on scope the first time around. Problem solved.
