how do I password protect a file download?

Hi – I’m wondering is it possible to password protect a file download?

I would like to insert a link (eg using the “txp:file_download_link” tag) in an article that prompts entry of a username and password before allowing the download.

Is there any way to achieve this? – thanks in advance

If I’m getting the description right the mentioned plugin does not offer protection for direct links to the files. Is there any plugin out there which does?
