Changing the site's index
Hey guys, i just downloaded and installed textpattern.
i have an exisiting website, http://www.thehungryjar.com and it has an auction script installed. i think there’s a conflict between both scripts because i couldn’t access the textpattern. is there anything i have to change to make the default page textpattern instead of the auction page?

You need to be more specific about what you did and didn’t do.
eg…
- were you able to log into the www.thehungryjar.com/textpattern.
- If so can you access the diagnostics tab.
We can be of more help if you refine your question…

im sorry, the installation went well. i can access www.thehungryjar.com/textpattern and i can access the diagnostic tabs. just so that in thehungryjar.com/textpattern, when i click on view site, it brought me to index.html, which is where the auction script takes place.
and i passed the diagnostic test.

What is an auction script? what do you see? When I load your page I get a page that contains a header, but nothing in the body. You could try deleting index.html, you should have index.php there also.

If you have both an index.php and an index.html, and you want the index.php to be loaded by default (which is what Textpattern needs), try uncommenting this line in .htaccess:

uncommenting means removing the # from the line?
deleting index.html doesnt help, i guess it redirects me to a file in cgibin folder, an auction.pl file.

Yes. It’s telling to first look for index.php, and only if it’s not there look for index.html.

i did that, and i uninstalled the entire auction script. but www.thehungryjar.com still leads me to the page it was meant for. only that it doesnt exist anymore. this is frustrating.
