[request] Autosaving articles
Is there any chance we can see this done via a plugin or as core functionality? I have accidentally closed the active tab in Fx for the millionth time with a practically finished article. It’s a real dissapointment when this happens, and it happens a lot to me for some reason.
I figured articles could be saved on the minute as drafts, when you want to publish it you just change the status to live and hit submit. What do you think?

Re: [request] Autosaving articles
I am currently working on a “do you really want to close this window?” kind of plugin, which wouldn’t do autosaves but at least warn you before shooting an unsaved article into digital nirvana. I’m in the first stages of development so there’s no planned release date yet…

That would be very useful too!

In Firefox 2, when that happens, right click on the open tabs and select _U_ndo Close Tab, brings the tab back with all the text you had entered.

It does for me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2

Re: [request] Autosaving articles
Here’s a temporary solution until something is done on this matter – The textarea backup greasemonkey script.

Re: [request] Autosaving articles
Some months ago I also praised for an autosaving options, but the thread became messy about versioning, and forgot about autosaving. :)
I still need an autosaving option, on the model of gmail autosaving: after first time author saved the articles, then the autosaving enter at regular interval or when a modification has been done.
Anyway, I’d suggest that the option could be turned on/off.
Greasemonkey script looks a nice temporary solution, thanks draganbabic. It would be great if someone could think about a plugin or a core functionality.
