How to get rid of multiply "same" URL address?

It’s possible to get rid of multiply “same” URL address which in fact has a same content… so search engines dispart rank… e.g.

http://www.ovsem.net/windows-xp/windows-vista-theme-pro-windows-xp-blax-05
http://www.ovsem.net/windows-xp/windows-vista-theme-pro-windows-xp-blax-05/WHATEVER
http://www.ovsem.net/windows-xp/windows-vista-theme-pro-windows-xp-blax-05/index.html

this three adress show the same content and that is not good. I use clean URL and scheme is /section/title

Can anybody help?

That’s precisely what Redirect Pro does, amongst other things.

I was wondering how you did get those URI? They aren’t generated by Textpattern. I have several TXP websites, I never had any issues close to this… I’m curious…

He’s referring to people trying to guess the URLs incorrectly (Txp is a little too forgiving, this is an outstanding… “bug”?), rather than fixing something Txp itself outputs.

Of course they aren’t generated by default. One SEO expert told me that even if nobody is trying to guess URL then still search engines can do this… they search after slash indexs like

/section/title
/section/title/
/section/title/index.html
/section/title/index.php
/section/title/index.asp

This example suppose uri scheme /section/title…

And all this URLs display the same article. I don’t know how this is really important, I’m only webdesigner, not an SEO expert. If Redirect PRO is solution for me, it is ok, I will buy it.

I have one question – Redirect PRO will help me to prevent display URL like this:

www.ovsem.net/?c=webdesign

correct URL is of cource www.ovsem.net/webdesign

Re: How to get rid of multiply "same" URL address?

I have never had a problem … In my experience as long as people don’t link to different versions of he url you should be ok…

I am no SEO expert … but that sounds like a load of BULL !

Yes, that’s not true, and I cannot think of any time when this ever was. ? Search engines follow existing links.
