My feed is timing out
Any idea why my feeds would be suddenly crawling? It’s slow enough that Feedburner and Feed Validator give up and report a time out errors. The bad feeds:
http://glassbees.com/?atom=1&
http://glassbees.com/?rss=1&
(The extra characters are there to avoid Feedburner-related loops. But for now, I’ve disabled Feedburner and the feeds are accessible at their default locations urls: http://glassbees.com/atom and http://glassbees.com/rss.)
While I do have occasional downtime issues with my host, that’s not the culprit here. My other TextPattern site on the same server is a larger file, but is totally fast: http://gaswaternothing.com/?atom=1&
This problem started when I attempted to edit atom.php and rss.php (to include the article image in the feed) but I couldn’t accomplish what I was trying to do and restored them to default versions.

Re: My feed is timing out
Are you sure you restored them correctly? The diagnostics page should tell you if they are correct.
Your site in general seems slow. FAQ.

Re: My feed is timing out
Thanks, Alex. The diagnostics page doesn’t reveal anything amiss with the feeds. The runtime for my pages (as revealed via Production Status: Testing) seem reasonable, but as far as I can tell this doesn’t tell you runtime for feed pages.
Am I sure I restored them correctly? Well, I replaced the files with fresh versions from the default install files. Not sure if that’s correct or not.

Re: My feed is timing out
To clarify: the diagnostics page will tell you if the feed PHP files (or any of Textpattern’s php files) don’t match those from the official release.

In the “Pre-flight check” section, right? The feed files don’t show up there (but it does notice txp_article.php where I changed a bit of css).

Well, I’m not sure what changed, but this problem seems to have self corrected. Thanks for your help, Alex, and I’ll report back here if an explanation emerges that might be helpful to others.
