Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
I’m using 0.7.2 and it’s working very well excepting one little problem.
When using rss_unlimited_categories_cloud, instead of outputting the category name in the link it is outputting the category ID.
So for example, instead of linking to http://mysite.com/journal/design/ it is linking to http://mysite.com/journal/27/
Of course using the category ID does not return any result. Where am I going wrong? I am using the tag like this [txp:rss_unlimited_categories_cloud linktosection=“journal” /] I have also tried using messy urls but to no avail

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Tried a brand-spankin’ new untouched install of 4.0.4, and I can get the new Categorize menu to show under the old Cat 1/Cat 2/Section popups, but ONLY if there’s no or just one category choice available. Add another, and I get the same error:
missing ; before statement
which is referencing the line that begins:
div.innerHTML = ‘<p>Categorize [<a href=”?event=category”>Edit</a>]<br /><select name=“Cats…
What to do, what to do? ; )
Thanks for any help…

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
I am using textpattern 4.0.3, and I installed this plug-in, and copied my existing categories into the database table as well. However, I just can’t get it to work >_>. It simply doesn’t show up a multiple category box when I go to the “write” tab… and I tried to install it another time deleting the self created table and stuff. Everything copied right into the database.
Does it matter about my prefix?

I think I see where I may be going wrong. I’m using a popup list of categories – is there a new tag for that so that it will show the unlimited categories?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Just a little cosmetic problem, but it still bugs me:
When I define a label for the rss_unlimited_categories_filedunder tag, it will show that label, whether there are categories to list or not.
The general rule in Textpattern seems to be that if there’s no list to show (in this case: 0 categories assigned to an article), then there’ll also be no label, and that also how I’d like things to work here.
Is there a way I could hide the label when an article has no categories?
Edit: Never mind, fixed it myself by editing the plugin a wee bit.
Thanks for this great plugin! This should be part of standard issue TXP!
Edit again: I posted the wee bit of editing here

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
I realize there’s a backlog of questions, but I’ll add mine just in case someone happens to have seen this. I installed the plugin and it seemed to be working fine; I transferred old categories to the new table. Then, I’m not sure what I did, but the multi-category box disappeared. I’ve disabled and re-enabled, uninstalled and reinstalled, but now I can’t get the plugin functioning again. I was editing categories before and after I installed the plugin, and I may not have refreshed for differences to register once it was installed—would that have accidentally re-set any of the changes the plugin had made?
Any suggestions on how to get this wonderful plugin working again would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
I have a problem with displays.
I installed the plugin, and activated it. Created a number of categories too. Created an item with a number of categories as well.
Now the item itself displays properly, and shows on the homepage too. However, the categories don’t show up the item. i.e ?c=catname1 or ?c=catname2 etc does not show the particular item. Regular items are showing (under the respective categories), though.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Rob,
I mostly use this plugin for “tagging” purposes, but there are times when I am also using it for managing the location output of certain types of articles. I do so by giving those articles the category of “articles” or “notes”, neither of which do I wish to have show up in the filedunder tag list.
I checked the thread here (searching, not reading as its quite long) and could not find anything about category exclusion. Is that something which can be added in a future release?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Just to explain what I would like this plugin to do… I’m building a real estate agency site using Txp and want to list each property under a whole batch of categories – area, price, number of rooms – all the usual stuff. Then I want visitors to be able to select which categories they want and – hey presto – properties which are included in all those categories appear!
Can rss_unlimited_categories help do this?
I have to say, I think the potential for this plugin is enormous.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Hi Rob,
I have been using another one of your plugins, RSS_superarchive for a while now but just recently have come across the need for multiple categories.
I work for an institute that has 1000’s of publications. Each publication has a category such as a study or report, ect. Then each publication has a category of what the issue the publication surrounds, like healthcare, ect. I need to be able to output a list of articles by category and date… url/section/category/year/….basically both of your plugins combined. Is there some way to accomplish this?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_unlimited_categories - Unltd. Article Categories
Hi,
Just wondering what the purpose of the following code section is, or more importantly, would it hurt if I removed it?
$_GET[‘request_uri’] = serverSet(‘REQUEST_URI’); $_GET[‘qs’] = serverSet(‘QUERY_STRING’);
After a lot of digging and great help from Alex (zem), these lines appear to be the cause of some of the strange urls that Googlebot is visiting (see example below) on my site and the circular redirects problem that I was having with ‘Redirect Pro’
notebook/?css=default&request_uri=/notebook/?css=default&qs=css=default
thanks.
