How do I emulate the 'onbeforeunload' event in Opera?

I’ve started to get my feet wet with JS recently…

So, has anyone of you stumbled over a way to have Opera trigger an event just before the user tries to leave a page (through navigation or by closing the browser window)? Other browsers like IE or Geckos implement the non-standard but useful unbeforeunload event.

How would I do this with Opera?
