Is it wise to have 1000 articles ?
I am planning a site which will contain my analysis for about 1000 stocks (as in stock market). I am thinking of making an article for each stock. Each stock is linked to an industry group – this can be a category. The content for the articles will develop over time. As I add my analysis, articles will be created and content added to existing articles. Each stock belongs permanently to an industry group.
But, at different times, the analysis for the stock can point to different actions, example: positive news, higher earnings, negative analyst ratings, etc..
I would like to see all all article segments relating to ‘positive news’ for example. I say segments, since the article page for the stock can consist of different actions, – positive news, analyst upgrade….. How do I pick up only the specified action, i.e. list all analyst upgrades.
The second question is: Is this a sensible approach – to have an article page for each stock ?
Thanks.

Why not? TXP can easily handle 1,000 articles.

I am currently working on a site with over 6,000 articles.
TXP doesn’t even hiccup

This might not be so easy, since you can’t call part of an article (at least not part of the article body). You might be able to solve this with creating new articles for positive news etc., and use custom fields for cross reference. Or categories, but that would mean you’d have to create 1000 categories as well…
As said, the number of articles is not a problem for TXP.

FAQ: How many articles can Textpattern handle?
FAQ: Can I attach additional information to articles?
