Which forum software would you use with Textpattern?

I’m considering using Txphorum (a simple forum plugin for Textpattern). I want to integrate the forum with Textpattern so that visitors feel like they’re on the same site whether they’re in the forum or the main TXP site.

I’m wondering if txphorum’s stability and functionally are sufficient for use on a real community site. The only sites I’ve found so far using it are inactive demo sites.

Is anyone using txphorum on a live site? Can you give us a review of how well it’s working for you?

I see that this forum uses PunBB. Would you recommend using a different forum package?

I would choose PunBB (and the future 1.3 version, along with Bert’s work, for a full integration)… but that’s me.

Hi, Jeremy. I can see that PunBB works really well in this site.

Ouch… very, very nice PunBB’s styling. Again, fixed width, but everything else is quite impressive.

Makes me ashamed of my stock look on mines…

Edit: ok, it will break with font increase. Bad, too bad…

The Font Thing . The most basic design Element.
However, I’ve seen that on many so called top notch corporate Designs as well.

It seems, that the majority of Users won’t even notice it anyway.

The styling is sweet though, I’d use them myself.

regards, marios

Over the last few months, while trying out different designs, I’ve learned to appreciate the work Paul puts into PunBB. The ability for a stock PunBB to adapt to different browsers, window widths and font changes amazes me.

Another nice integration of style between PunBB and Textpatter is http://www.godbit.com

Here’s guntards.net

Just tried to make the Txp part look more like the PunBB part.

Couldn’t tel if Txpun is actually working…

If you look at the Guntards.net blog, you’ll see we direct readers to the PunBB forums to make comments. The only integration I would really like to see would be for PunBB topics to be created as blog entries are finalized, and the commenting link taking the reader to the relevant forum topic.

Yes, that’s the plan. You create an article in Textpattern and it feeds over to the appropriate forum, the comment link would direct you straight to the thread in question.

We’ve already done this for Nucleus -> PunBB, I had a site running this bridge but have since moved it to Textpattern.

You are not alone, welcome to the club! We’ve got jacket :-)

Already in the pipe, waiting for 1.3 to come out, so we can whip some dev :)
