.htaccess

Hi,

In the diagnostics tab i get the error that the htaccess file is missing. I think it was because that im running osx and it may not have been uploaded. anyway ive tried uploading a file call htaccess then renaming it on the server. this returns an Internal Server Error, textpattern is totally shut down. Does this automatically mean my host doesnt support the clean urls/htacces thing?
Trying to whittle away the errors…all new to me…

That’s likely, yes. But, I would try uploading the one that ships with Textpattern, just to be sure.

There is usually a setting in your FTP program that will show “hidden” files. What FTP program are you using?

Re: .htaccess

Thanks Mary,
Actually im using a web base ftp client called net2ftp.
This is to get around some connection problems with my isp.

Its a robust ap but it doesnt seem to have the view hidden files feature.

http://mcmonagle.biz/net2ftp/

I can give you the password if you want to see it in action.

I talked to my host and he said that he will help me get this to work but i dont think he
understands.

Re: .htaccess

Usually your host’s control panel also has the option to upload files from you local computer, I know Cpanel and Plesk do.

Re: .htaccess

Hi Els,
The hosting package i have textpattern set up on doenst have a control panel-oldschool.
I found that using net2ftp to create the file directly on the server seems to have worked.
thanks
