Integrate Textpattern into an existing site
I want Textpattern to power several different parts of a already-finished website.
What I am doing right now is: for those places that i want Textpattern to power, I put a .htaccess that rewrite certain URLs to certain sections of my TXP installation.
Things work okay except for txp:permlink which depends on site_url. However, I cannot configure different site_url for different sections?
My question are:
Is my approach to using 1 Textpattern installation to power several parts of my site correct (good)?
If so, how can I overcome the problem of permlink and different site_url for different sections?

Re: Integrate Textpattern into an existing site
One time I decided that I was going to build a site with textpattern but that it was not powerful enough so I could not run the index page using the CMS itself. So I hacked together a site with redirects and all kinds of other things and it did not work as well.
I would suggest either using Txp for the whole site, just as a blog (or other specific sub-system) within a site, or not at all.

Re: Integrate Textpattern into an existing site
Well, in my case, I don’t really have a choice since there is already another system in place. Is it possible for me to have different site_url for different sections?

Re: Integrate Textpattern into an existing site
Echoing Dale, a site URL would help.
To answer your first question, there is no “correct” way to install / use Textpattern. However, it is software that works best at the root of a site; there can only be one Site URL. If none of your Textpattern-powered sub-sites overlap, it may be better to use multiple installations.
For what it’s worth, Textpattern is designed as a standalone application and you might have to do some hacking to get things to work the way you want.
Good luck!

Re: Integrate Textpattern into an existing site
I’ve been poking around Textpattern Resources this morning, and found the mdn_sectionlink plugin.
I still think you’ll have to retool your workflow a bit, but that plugin might help.
