clean url errors
After upgrading to 4.04, I’m getting a “clean_url_test_failed” diagnostic error.
What gives? – can anyone explain what ‘clean url’ is, and if/how I need to correct this?
This never happened with my 4.03 install – don’t know if that’s relevant…..

Re: clean url errors
Clean urls are like site.com/section/article-title (as opposed to site.com/index.php?id=xx). Do clean urls work on your site? I’ve had this message in diagnostics, while clean urls were working allright. So I just ignored it and over time it disappeared ;) So I don’t know what this message means exactly, but it doesn’t have to be something to worry about.

Re: clean url errors
If you mean, is txp generating URLs like this:
jameslomax.com/ooh-baby-what-a-nice-nice-clean-url
Instead of this:
jameslomax.com/!!£$,xxx-id=!!!%%%%%%-etc
then yes, its working fine.
Maybe the error will disappear – sounds quite an odd thing to happen….

:) Yes that’s what I meant. Maybe someone else can explain what the ‘clean url test’ really tests… I honestly don’t know.

Re: clean url errors
It’s in the FAQ.
If clean URLs appear to be working but you’re getting that error, it might mean that they are actually broken in subtle ways.

Re: clean url errors
As in, form posts might not work correctly, or url GET parameters, or redirects, or something else. Mostly seen when the ErrorDoc clean URL hack is in use.
Point is, it’s possible for everything to look fine in the most common cases, but fail in others.
The FAQ explains briefly what that test does, and some of the things that can cause it to fail.
