More than 10 Custom Fields?

My site calls for a lot of detail in each article, meaning lots of custom fields to be presented within each article. I’m looking at the custom fields section, and I see 10 spots. I’m nearing 10 already, so once I fill all 10, am I unable to add any more custom fields for articles?

you can apply a mod to get more than 10 but then your stuck when it comes to upgrading TxP to the next version.

Alternatively, I wrote the Packed Custom Fields plugin to (sort-of) address this by allowing you to pack many values into each custom field. The forum thread for the plugin is here.

I’ve been looking into this further, and I’m still leaning toward just adding more custom fields due to the specific nature of my site.

What sort of mod (is there a specific one?) do I apply in order to increase the amount of custom fields available? I’m also having trouble figuring how much trouble I’d really be in when a new TxP version comes out… can anyone shed any light on these 2 questions?

Here is an article by Gerhard Lazu. But please keep in mind what Steve said: you’d have to repeat all file mods every time you upgrade!
