[archived] cgd_dynagallery: Dynamic Gallery v0.1 Released
Notice: This thread is archived, this plugin is no longer available.
**********************************************************
This will allow you to build a pretty dynamic gallery with little or no effort. It has the ability to span across multiple rows which are user defined, and also the ability to use textlinks or thumbnails for previewing.
Version .02 released, Scroll Down

This looks superb – I’ve downloaded it and will give it a spin. Just one question – does it have to use a table, or can you choose the markup around it?
Cheers,

Great work! And very nice site too.
The site menu on the left is a hard too read though.

Jon, right now the markup is hardcoded into the plugin. You can edit it by going into the plugin internals, but note that inorder for it to have dynamic rows a table was best suited for this. I just started using TP about 3 days ago, so i’m still ‘learning the ropes’. I haven’t figured out how to use forms in my plugins yet, but I don’t think forms would be the answer to formatting data that is meant to be in a table. If you have some examples of how I might get it done without tables, then feel free to elaborate and i’ll give it a whirl.

Nice plugin, Justin! On the subject of how to markup the gallery, it seems that simply putting the images in either a centered or left-aligned paragraph or div would provide a very flexible framework. I for one don’t have much need to specify number of rows, but I like the idea of a gallery that would fill whatever container it’s put into. When I’ve posted sets of photos on my own site, I simply put them in a single paragraph, and the result is nice and dynamic — wraps across multiple rows if displayed in a narrow window, or is rendered in a single row if the window is wide.

Here’s a link that shows how to use thumbs with different sizes and no tables.
They can be embedded in a paragraph and there is also an image swap to show larger images:
It might be what you are looking for.

Also, using an unordered list with floated/inlined items would do a good job.
Who’s gonna textdrive you home tonight?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I upgraded it and added the ability to use any wraptag for those who don’t want to use tables, and also a few more fixes and minor changes.

I have a Flat Panel monitor thats lies to me. I’m gonna be redoing everything from scratch more than likley, I’m having alot of other issues with it besides being hard to read.

This is very useful. Thanks. Would it be possible to add back and next buttons (text links), as to construct a slideshow without thumbnails within a set image category?

Christian, this gallery uses Text Patterns built in <txp:image_disply />
to display the actual fullsize image, so as it stands it wouldnt’ be able to do that without a hack that i’m aware of.
A plugin for what your wanting is very much doable though. Your just wanting a fullsize image slideshow with Next / Back links correct?
