Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]

what was the thinking behind the ‘duplicate’ event name and description? i.e. the article & the event can have different names & bodies

not a critique, just curious!

Hi nardo,

<txp:category_list type="event" link=1 />

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]

thanks rick

another question re: categories…

if u create an event subcategory (e.g. “Over 35s”, which has a parent event category “Football”) is it possible to output all children when specifying a parent?

e.g. <txp:zem_event_list category="Football" /> would preferably output all events in the “Football” category, as well as those in the subcategories “Over 35s”, “Under 15s”, etc etc

this may not be desired behaviour for some/many users – so an attribute children_categories=1 might be the go (if the above isn’t possible at present)

I’m just now getting my first close look at category behaviours, I don’t really have a good answer to your questions. I don’t think the capability you describe is available without further development or a seperate plugin though.

one problem: when i create a new article, in the forms of the event section remain the words of the past article/event. So if i forgot to cancel them i re-publish the event

the issue has been noted and is being looked at, thanks.

one request: it’s possible to create event don’t link to an article?

Can you give me an example? All events are tied to articles, but the output can change if that’s what you’re looking for.

Good question :). The primary reason was that we wanted there to be an available flexibility since events would be “tied” to articles. Sometimes one might want an event to appear “in” an article, other times, one might want an event to stand alone. You can affect the difference through different forms.

Rsiletti,
Thank you for helping me with answers, its much appreciated.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]

naoj77,
Can you describe your scenario? I’m not sure the plugin will do what you are asking without further development.

All,
One thought here, since documentation is lacking, is to put up some more funds for full documentation from Team Textpattern? Would anybody be in favor of that?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]

Hi Matthew,
haven’t tested this yet, but sure this plug-in rocks. This is a truly original TeamTextpattern plug-in!

I have two questions:

Thanks.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] zem_event [flexible integrated event management]

Manaqui,

I have two questions: could be the output formatted as an hCalendar microformat?

yes. I don’t have time to work out how though :). I would LOVE if someone took this on. I have spent a great deal of time working with Alex on this one, and now need to focus elsewhere. I hope that as a ‘gift’ this plugin can really be picked up by the community.

what would you/TeamTexpattern list as the differences/features over Jufemaiz’s jmc_event_manager?

Good question. I think the main differences are:

  • User interface (there is more)
  • Event Categories (separate from article categories)
  • No need to use custom fields (these can be used for article specific uses)
  • RSS feed output (unique)
  • There are many small differences, which I won’t be able to say for sure since I’ve never used Juf.‘s plugin, but I suspect the above to be the main differences from reading throught that forum post.

Juf. began working on his plugin during the development of this one, and it has become more robust in the process, perhaps one will suit some users and the other, others…?

Matthew
