Locale: C in diagnostics what does this mean?

Does a Locale: C mentioned in diagnostics mean that the proper UTF-8 locale is not installed? This happens on a new server at my nl host. On another server at the same host diagnostics show nl_NL.UTF-8 as locale file for my txp installs.

Yes, no specific locale was installed on the server… but you can still use UTF-8 in Textpattern.
As far as I know it only means that the programs installed on the server will only not use translations for the error messages and other output they produce while running.

It also means dates won’t be translated correctly.

Exactly that is what I noticed and made me check the locale in diagnostics
I asked my hosting provider to install the missing locale(s) and he just answered he will.

Is there an easy test to see what locale files are installed on a server, and a test if a specific locale (nl_NL.UTF-8 in my case) is working?

Well, the easiest way is to switch to a different language (in txp-preferences), save, then switch back and save. THe locales are saved whenever you update your language settings.

Hi sencer

So if I don’t switch I keep the locale C? Because my host has installed nl_NL.UTF-8 for me but I am still seeing locale: C in diagnostics.

Edit: yes it works!
