Site structure help..
Have a new site to build, and thinking of different ways to construct it. Could use some ideas, suffering from idea block right now..
Content:
Based on events, the site features about 8 different events each year. Each event should have the following details, which should be seen once the user has clicked on the event link:
1. Draw sheet (PDF file link and/or Word file)
2. Gallery of images of the event
3. Registration into the event (contact form = ZCR)
4. Event information
5. Event categories (over 45’s and over 55’s, for example)
Where I am stuck is how to present the information above, after clicking on an article. How to have all of the content attach itself to an article?
Perhaps use categories or sections?
Would also like to have an archive with the previous year’s events.
Any help is welcome, thanks.

Re: Site structure help..
The way I structure sites with textpattern is using first Sections:
site.com/event1/
site.com/event2/
site.com/event3/
And then when writing articles, just make sure you add them to the correct section. That way you’ll be able to get a well structured site:
site.com/event1/schedule
or
site.com/event4/pdf-of-schedule
Categories I use simply to “categorize” the type of content I’m writing:
you know some articles might be categorized as “pdf”, some as “schedules”… etc
It just helps you to keep everything very tidy inside the site, and easy to find. (Also easy to edit and work with).

Re: Site structure help..
or make each event a single article – you have plenty of input fields plus 10 custom fields at your disposal
title & body = title & event information
excerpt = hold your contact form, maybe?
category = one or two (over 55s, etc) – if you need more, could use keywords field, and chh_related_articles
article image – multiple img ids to create your gallery
linked file – a custom field (see upm_file)
so you’d end up with /events/event1, /events/event2 etc
and editing an event means editing one article

Thanks to both of you for the tips, which make sense. I will start playing around with some of these ideas.
