how do I move the directory that textpattern runs in?

Right now textpattern is in /main/ (the articles are, the admin is in /main/textpattern/) but that’s because I didn’t really know how it all would lay itself out when I installed it, and by the time I realized it, I was too neck-deep to start over with a fresh install.

So if I change the site location from mydomain.com/main to mydomain.com/ and then go into a shell and do a mv /main / to move all the files up one level… will that work? Or is there a bunch of internal stuff that will break? I don’t want to just go ahead and do it in case it all breaks and doesn’t magically go back if I reverse what I did.
