TextPattern on Rails
Has there ever been any effort or talk on creating a new TextPattern written in Ruby on Rails, along with AJAXified elements?

Re: TextPattern on Rails
blah. why do you need RoR to do ajaxified.
Also, do you know the hosting requirements of RoR, it would be a nightmare. Textpattern would only work on a few hosts. More hosts out there support php that ruby. It would cut off 80% of the user base.
Also, it would add so much weight to the application. Writing a hosted app with a framework is reasonable, it’s just running there, but if you wrote something like textpattern with a framework, you would be adding a whole host of requirements and extra downloads (and size).

..and CPU and memory usage.
More importantly: what problem would RoR and/or AJAX solve?

The answer is: no, there hasn’t.
I don’t know that the work of porting the application would be worth it to anyone.

Re: TextPattern on Rails
Textthing sounded great in theory when Justin first started talking about it, but the one-man show has essentially ground to a halt. There have been no updates in a year and a half.
My ultimate dream CMS is something like Textthing. I just want to be able to create multiple directories with static content for my corporate clients. Why Textpattern makes a structure like www.site.com/section/subsection/subsubsection/title-of-article nearly impossible is beyond me. The functionality is a no-brainer.

That sort of structure is being worked on for 4.1 I believe.

Re: TextPattern on Rails
What seems easy and was is easy are not always the same thing, and here, it is certainly not. But yes, it is in the works.
