Are there are very large sites running on TXP?
with large sites i mean 1000 + articles. can anyone think of any? have these sites been customized alot or running on standard txp? im developing a site with 1600 articles in the db and wonder what any potential issues could be … now or in two years. my default page is starting to get massive.
I need someone to protect me from all the measures they take in order to protect me

Re: Are there are very large sites running on TXP?
1000 articles is not large, certainly not very large. http://mag.fussball-forum.de/ has around 2500+ (longish) articles. No, you don’t have to do anything special, it doesn’t matter whether you have 5 or 50.000 articles. There are some common sense cases, like making archive-cases of all articles where it obviously would have an effect.
my default page is starting to get massive.
why? or rather: what are you trying to say?

It sounds to me like you’re talking about two different things. As Sencer says, 1000+ articles is not very big.
But when you say:
my default page is starting to get massive.
What do you mean?
Edit: Oh. Sencer asked that question also. Nevermind Ignore me.

Re: Are there are very large sites running on TXP?
I kinda had a similar question in mind when I searched this — is textpattern proven to handle a lot of articles? traffic?

Yes and yes. For traffic also see:

http://textpattern.com/faq/80/how-fast-is-textpattern
Obviously as son as scalability comes into play it’s more a case of how well can you (or the person responsible for it) tune the server, and less and less a question about textattern.

Re: Are there are very large sites running on TXP?
great! seems like txp can take a lot of traffic. sencer, that cache plugin of yours seems pretty good!
the previous comment about my default page getting massive should be ignored. i didnt quite see how i should construct this page, but now i do and all works fine

Yes Textpattern can handle a big site… CanaldeVideos.com has more than 1500 articles that include file downloads, search, comments… it’s all working fine.
We had to install the jpcache plugin to give the server some slack. But up till now, it’s been great to do everything with Textpattern.
We did have to move to a dedicated server though… but that’s because the site has lots of pageviews.

My site has just under 7000 articles now. I host it at Dreamhost. No problems whatsoever.

Nope, it’s a normal Dreamhost account. I was having issues briefly, as a result of a bad database on their end, but they moved me to a different server and its been better since.
