Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

When I try to download pap_contact_cleaner I got a

Forbidden

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

error. Seems like the old mod_security&textpattern screwup on some hosts :)

Is the plugin hosted somewhere else?

Yup, it redirect to darkstarpromotions.co.uk which creates the problem I was talking about. Iirc, it’s not everyone, just a couple of countries.

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

I’ll upload a copy of pap_contact_cleaner on my own server (where the newer ZCR and language plugins are already hosted) later today and adjust the link at textpattern.org.

For now, you can also find it in the textbook plugin archive

This one does work: http://vanmelick.com/txp/pap_contact_cleaner-0.1.txt

The link at textpattern.org now points there as well.

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

Hi,

I’ve just tested a zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 form with pap_contact_cleaner 0.1 using Safari 2.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.8.

Safari’s Autofill feature seems to fill in the ‘hidden’ form fields that pap_contact_cleaner places into the form, which then throws up the ‘no spam, please’ message when the form is submitted.

Is there any way, apart from turning off Safari’s Autofill (which would be a pain to tell site visitors to do), to get around this? Maybe renaming the hidden fields that pap_contact_cleaner inserts?

Thanks.

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

I suspect those fields were chosen for a reason: spam bots are more likely to fill out a field called ‘phone’ or ‘email’ than for example ‘JjDj34FD34’. Changing the field names into something random could reduce the efficiency of pap_contact_cleaner. You can easily change them, if you want. Just edit the pap_contact_cleaner plugin in the plugins tab of textpattern. The field names should be easy to find and replace.

Pap_contact_cleaner is an optional plugin. Zem_contact_reborn will work fine without it. Try disabling it. If you don’t get noticibly more spam sent though the contact form, then you probably don’t need it.

Thanks for the reply, ruud. I will try disabling pap_contact_cleaner and see what happens. :)

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

Hi guys, sweet plugin!

I needed an image input for the submit button and the current 4.0.3.18 didn’t support it. A few minutes later… zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18_glz.

Thanks a bunch!

You can also create a button containing an image by using the zem_contact_submit tag as a container tag and including an image in it.

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

I’ve got a client who insists on using her hotmail address to receive her email, but no messages are received at all. It’s working fine with all other email addresses. We also tried with another hotmail address, but no go. Does anyone know if this can be solved, or does hotmail just dislike contact forms and do I have to give her an ordinary email link?

Re: Plugin: zem_contact_reborn 4.0.3.18 (old version)

Is it possible to check the mail logs on that server? If so, you can check what the response of the hotmail mailserver was when mail delivery was attempted. Knowing the reject reason, it’s often possible to work around it (unless the IPnr of the server is blacklisted by hotmail).

If the hotmail mailserver does accept the email, then it must be some kind of spam filtering. I’ve never used hotmail, but I assume they have spamfiltering and perhaps also a separate mailbox where spam is stored. Perhaps the reason for marking it as spam can be found in the headers of the email there.

If it is spamfiltering that’s causing this and you don’t mind a bit of experimenting, you could try sending manually crafted emails from that server. Starting very simple, so that it looks like a normal mail (at least not like something a contact form would send) and add variations until it is identical to the mails that ZCR sends. At some point the mails should start being rejected. That’s one way to find what triggers the mail filter.
