Sections vs Categories; A Family Reunion dilemma

According to the help docs:

Sections are exclusive. Every article is associated with a section. An article cannot reside in more than one section.
A newspaper web site might have sections named “Politics”, “Sport”, “Weather” and so on.

Categories are a looser way of organising articles. An article can have up to two categories, and may have none. Categories may cross Section boundaries – that is to say, articles from several different sections can belong to the one category.

Following the newspaper example, categories might be used to organize articles into “Local”, “National”, “World” and so on. sections should be created

Backround
I have created a family website where for the next several months the main discussion will be regarding an upcoming Family Reunion.

Question
I am wondering if I should create a section called Reunion 2007 ? If instead of creating a new section I create a category of Family Reunion 2007 and have all articles on the front page section I am worried that the reunion stickies/posts will get muddled with the non-reunion posts.

Would Reunion qualify as a separate section ? If anyone could provide some guidelines when determining whether to use a section that would be ideal.

I just switched over from Wordpress and love Textpattern.

Okay, can you give more details as to how are you wanting this to look/feel. Are you wanting only reunion-related stuff on the front page? or, you want them all on the front page, but you want the reunion listing to be separated from the rest?

Aside from that, are there any further requirements?

Re: Sections vs Categories; A Family Reunion dilemma

I would like reunion stickies and reunion posts to be on the front page. Non-reunion items would be on a separate page. I would like to provide a good flow/sensible structure for the user whether they have a re-union or non-reunion post.

Semantically, I’d set it up as section:events and category:reunion 2007. Flowing from general to specific.

That way next time you have an event you have a pplace to put it.
