MODx: meanwhile, on the other side of the fence...

Two concepts struck me when reading Jason Coward’s post over at the MODx blog:

  • contexts as a formal method of providing public access to diverse ressource classes, as is “feed”, “page”, or “file_download” and the optional XML-RPC extension in Txp.
  • cultures as a term for a unique combination of the data representation preferences and content language of a specific society. This would fit nicely into the realm of language specific Textile for quotes, adding multi-lingual capabilities to Txp and the like.

Both concepts address features along the lines of Txp’s plugins or elements with regard to modularity/expandability/amending the core without hacking. Worth a look, imho.
