Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
Pretty please, with sugar on: ability to truncate (empty) tables; the plugin won’t allow me to run that query (truncate table_name).

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
Thanks for posting the update Merz. After the last set of updates, there were a couple more feature requests (one with sugar on) so there is another new version available. New features include:

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
@Rob: On a newly installed 4.0.4 I get the following error:
It is the very first backup.
BACKUP FAILED. ERROR NO: 1
Warning: unlink(/mnt/…edited…/htdocs/files/1164923449-DB217749.sql.gz) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in /mnt/…edited…/htdocs/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(512) : eval()’d code on line 95
On my other site everything works fine with the new version.
Well, yes, I am talking about two different installations at two different providers.
- Strato (Germany): Shared hosting, First backup, not working
- 1&1 (Germany): Shared hosting, regular backup, working

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
I would check out differences in MySQL versions, differences in mysqldump versions and differences in the location of the executables for each at the two hosting providers.
All of the issues I have seen with the plugin involve one of those 3 issues.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
Rob a) thanks for the answer and b) excuse my late answer; I wasn’t subscribed to this thread.
Do you have some hints how to do the comparison?
Some procedure would be very welcome.
On one platform I have SSH access on the other I haven’t.
Both are on shared hosting platforms and not on dedicated root servers.
Would it be possible to get that info through the plugin?
Extended diagnosis for the NOT working system:
…
MySQL: 5.0.21
PHP-Extensions: … mysqli/0.1, mysql/1.0
Setting TXP to debug mode shows nothing.
Setting DB_backup to debug shows:
mysqldump -hrdbms.xxx.de -uxxx -pxxx -Q —add-drop-table —ignore-table=xxx.txp_log xxx | gzip > /xxx/htdocs/files/xxx-xxx.sql.gz
Extended diagnosis for the WORKING system:
…
MySQL: 5.0.26-standard-log
PHP-Extensions: … mysql
Setting TXP to debug mode: not tested
Setting DB_backup to debug shows: The same like above with different parameters and path

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
I have a problem as the plugin it is not backing up anymore. (the repair functions seem ok.)
In debug mode it returns:
mysqldump -hburnaby.textdrive.com -uyyy -pxxx -Q —add-drop-table ttt | gzip > /users/home/yyy/domains/hblack.net/web/public/hblack/files/1166357701-hblack.sql.gz
replaced some sensitive information up there.
The gzip file is created but it is only 20bytes… Basically containing nothing…
Any ideas from anyone?
Oh yes! I am using v4.3 of the plugin on a 404 txp install. The reason I upgraded the plugin was because the problem was evident in the previous version installed which was 4.1

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
No, I have no idea.
Pls. contact your ISP to check if rights or path of mysql or mysqldump was changed.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
Did you check the most simple options?
Backup Path:- Points to some local directory inside your root (htdocs) directory.
- The path looks like /<some directories>/htdocs/files.
mysqldump Path: mysqldump
mysql Path: mysql
No parameters no nothing.
You are having a network problem!
- Don’t use a servername except maybe localhost or 127.0.0.1.
- Where does the host name (the -h part) come from? Config.php? That’s the place where you have to change something.
Jason at Textdrive said it loud and clear that mysqldump is not allowed to connect to your public IP. You must use an internal IP (?) or localhost or 127.0.0.1.:
Yes you don’t have TCP permissions so
mysqldump -hburnaby.textdrive.com
should be
mysqldump -hlocalhost
or just leave the -h off
As Rob said before
I would check out differences in MySQL versions, differences in mysqldump versions and differences in the location of the executables (…).
All of the issues I have seen with the plugin involve one of those 3 issues.
Sorry, but nothing more to add.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
Just have to mention that I just installed this plugin on a site being hosted by Dreamhost, and after activating, I clicked backup, and whammo. Done. I can’t wait to back-up the rest of my sites. Thanks a bunch!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_db_manager - database backups and more
On Dreamhost, too.
Following a hint by Bert Garcia, I set up a cron job using AutoMySQLBackup, let the server take care for doing all backup maintenance at 03:00 a.m. and send me an e-mail in case something goes awry.
THIS is pleasure!
