random sorting of article_custom
I know this feature was in 4.0.3, but has the random sorting of articles been deprecated in 4.0.4? If that’s the case, it would be a pity. But I’ll grow over it… :)

Yes, I did. That worked in 4.0.3, but not anymore…

It does! I don’t know what I was doing wrong, but I’m glad it works. Thanks Mary (and jm ;)!

Re: random sorting of article_custom
I wonder if I haven’t stumbled on something strange. I just upgraded to 4.0.5 and noticed that sort="rand()"
, which was always unproblematic, no longer seemed to work (in Firefox 2.0.0.5). So I turned to these forums. I was kind of surprised to see that someone else seemed (at least initially) to be having a similar problem.
Out of curiosity, I decided to load the site in Safari (2.0.1), and it worked fine. So then I tested it in Opera (8.52), and it worked fine. And then I used a Windows IE7 emulator to test it in IE7/Win, and it worked fine.
Loaded it again in FF, and it doesn’t seem to work: I get the same image every single time. I’ve loaded and reloaded too many times for it to be just a coincidence. I dumped my cache and session cookies just to see if that would help, but no. I even tried adding <meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" />
—made no difference.
