My IP address is blacklisted

So I’ve just set up a new site for myself, and when I try to post a test comment I get the message : “your_ip_is_blacklisted_by sbl.spamhaus.org”.

It’s good to know that Textpattern’s spam protection works, but this is also a little inconvenient.

I know that this isn’t a txp problem, but I’d be interested to hear people’s advice on what to do about it and what has caused it to be blacklisted in the first place. I’m using a standard broadband connection, I guess that this is something I should complain to my ISP about?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed.

Re: My IP address is blacklisted

Hi Ed,

it’s actually quite possible that this is a problem with textpattern and the way dns is set up at your place. There is a antry in the FAQ for the 4.0.4 release:
http://textpattern.com/faq/?c=Releases-404

Specifically: http://textpattern.com/faq/243/comment-spam-blacklist-false-positives

Re: My IP address is blacklisted

Hi Spencer,

That fixed it. I’ll make sure I read the rest of those FAQs now…

Thanks very much for taking the time to help.

Cheers,

Ed.
