[textile] Any reasons for Textile Lite not processing ul, ol?

Textile Lite as it is used for comments parsing inhibits the generation of ordered and unordered lists. I cannot think of a sensible reason for this behavior, and it would not do any harm if comments could contain lists.

Any thoughts on this?

Ditto here: it is useful for forum postings, for example.

Yeah, same question posted in another topic. Is there a hack or plugin of some sort to go around this?

Re: [textile] Any reasons for Textile Lite not processing ul, ol?

There was an uproar when block elements were parsed in comments, because many people complained it broke their layouts when those elements suddenly started appearing in comments. Of course there are ways around that with the proper CSS, but there were many existing sites that “relied” on certain block elements not appearing in comments. It hink it was also because with certain syntax it was possible to generate invalid html (can’t remember the specifics). So the decision was made to not parse list-block-elements in comments.

This is not set in stone, but more likely to change only with a major upgrade.

Perhaps a switch in the settings “Use Textile Lite for Comments?” (yes/no), or another more meaningful title. Mary uses the TextileRestricted with Lite turned off for these forums for example.
