Re: How to use a plugin?

Do you want to know how to use an existing plugin or how to write your own plugin?

Re: How to use a plugin?

  1. Install plugin.
  2. Read the plugin “Help” documentation.

Re: How to use a plugin?

Browse the txp resources.

The vast majority of plug-ins feature a link to the author’s homepage, which often has very detailed information on usage and samples/tutorials as is the case with e.g. rss_thumbpop.

Re: How to use a plugin?

Thanks for the answers
Forexample how do I use pfa_beginning. I have installed it, but my problem is, that I don’t know how to/where to insert the code <txp:beginning length=“500” linktext=“Read More” styleclass=“morelink” />

I am a newbie…

Re: How to use a plugin?

I’m not familiar with this particular plug-in, but since its purpose is to auto-generate an excerpt you’d need to place it where you want your article excerpts to appear. That could be in your page template or a form, depending on how you prefer to set things up.

You might find How do I show only an excerpt in article lists? helpful even though it doesn’t make use of any plug-in.

I can recommend spending some time in txp’s FAQ section. It’s clearly written, well-structured and full of examples. I pretty much found all of my own newbie questions answered there and still refer to it regularly.
