Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
Hey everybody,
I’m trying to enable my blog style site so people can tag article links in “Digg” and “Delicious,” and I continually get “permlink” errors.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
MY CODE:
<a href=“http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&url=<txp:permlink />” target=”_blank”>Digg This Story</a>
<a href=“http://del.icio.us/post?url=<txp:permlink />&title=<txp:title />” target=”_blank”>Add to del.icio.us</a>
RECEIVING THESE ERRORS:
tag_error <txp:permlink/> -> Textpattern Notice: error_article_context on line 1821
tag_error <txp:permlink/> -> Textpattern Notice: error_article_context on line 1821
tag_error <txp:title/> -> Textpattern Notice: error_article_context on line 1821
WHEN I CLICK ON THESE LINKS, THEY GO TO THE FOLLOWING URL’S:
http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&url=
http://del.icio.us/post?url=&title=

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
Sorry, I’m really new to textpattern. What I think it’s saying is that I can’t do it because the <txp:permlink /> is not associated with a specific article. Is there a workaround for this? Is there a way I can achieve the link?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
I just read it over again. So, if I understand correctly, the permlink tag can only be used in the actual article page, not in an article list.

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
Correct. Think about it: otherwise, how would Textpattern know which article’s permlink you want?

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
So I put it on an single article page. But it is linking to:
http://mysite.com/“http://del.icio.us/post?url=http://mysite.com/second-post&title=SecondPost”
which is obviously going nowhere, it’s behaving like a relative link. Is there a way to make it print the correct link without my link in front of it?
MY CODE:
<a href=“http://del.icio.us/post?url=<txp:permlink />&title=<txp:title />” target=”_blank”>Add to del.icio.us</a>
Thanks for the help.

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
Make sure it’s in an article form. I just tried this on my local install, and it worked fine:
<a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url=<txp:permlink />&title=<txp:title />">Add to del.icio.us</a>
Or you can use page_url which produces the same thing:
<a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url=<txp:page_url />&title=<txp:title />">Add to del.icio.us</a>
Producing:
<a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url=http://localhost/examples/a-fake-title&title=A Fake Title">Add to del.icio.us</a>

Re: Permlink error with Digg and Delicious links
Thank you, thank you, thank you, JM! That worked perfectly, the main problem was I didn’t have it in the article form.
