huge logs in database

I noticed my daily dumps were growing, so I took a look at the data base. The log table was HUGE!

The admin panel sez that every time I look at the visitor logs in the textpattern console that they are trimmed to the value in the defaults, which for me is set to 7 days.

Do I need to log out of textpattern for this to take place?

Re: huge logs in database

The logs are trimmed each time you visit the logs tab, so if you don’t look at the logs tab every now and then, the logs continue to grow. In that case you may want to disable logging or perhaps just enable referer logging.

Also, look at Logging in Preferences:

All hits: Textpattern will log all page views on your site.

Referrers only: Textpattern will only log visits referred from other sites.

If it’s set to All hits, then your logs will grow very large.
