<p> being added around any newly posted articles

All of a sudden, everytime I post an article, the contents get wrapped in <p></p> tags. This never happened before, and is invalidating my code now. The only thing I can think of is that I installed 3 plug-ins this week:
pap_contact_cleaner, zem_contact_lang, and zem_contact_reborn. I tried deactivating all of them, but the problem still persisted. I’m still using 4.03. Any idea what might be happening?

The post in question is here:
http://www.davesden.com/49/coderific-developers-rate-employers

I entered my article content like this:
<p class=“p1”><span>blah blah</span></p>

And it comes out as this:
<p><p class=“p1”><span>blah blah</span></p></p>

If you don’t place a space or notextile. before your HTML, then Textile wraps a paragraph around that text. You really don’t need to hand code HTML, when the new version of Textile provides inline styling, bug fixes, and more attributes. And to add a class, all you do is p(myClass). Blah blah. Upgrading to 4.0.4 is painless too.

If you want to use (X)HTML extensively, it’s best to turn off Textile altogether.

Re: <p> being added around any newly posted articles

Thanks for your replies. I tried turning off Textfile for publishing (set “Leave text untouched” in admin), but that did not remove the <p> wrapper. When I added a space as the first character of my article, it removed the wrapping <p> as desired. I guess this will work, but I don’t understand why turning off Textfile didn’t work.

The admin preference determines what the default setting should be. Each article has it’s own setting – look under “Advanced Options”.

FYI, this is all covered in the FAQ.
