Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_valid_email()
I just tried to update to 4.0.4 on my homepage, and got the following error on the public index and the admin index:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_valid_email() (previously declared in /home/benbruce/public_html/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php:824) in /home/benbruce/public_html/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(512) : eval()’d code on line 644
The problem was an old version of mem_self_register (found it in that plugin’s thread). I went in through phpMyAdmin and erased that plugin from the txp_plugin table, and the site worked fine again. Then I went and got the latest version of the plugin and installed it.
Hope that helps,
- Ben

So what’s the problem?

The problem is listed in the subject line of the post. The answer is posted. It’s for people who have that issue and come to forum looking for answers.
When I came to check this issue, it took me a while to find the answer. Now others don’t have to search so hard (and maybe I’ve saved you and others some headache :).

PS. Thanks for moving the post, Mary. Missed that one …
