r2098 - Hidden articles appearing
Textpattern version: 4.0.4 (r2098)
On the front page of one of my sites, I display only one article. I shuffle the playing order of them by changing their status, only one article is active at any one time, the rest are hidden.
The page tag: <txp:article limit=“5” />
Today, I wanted to shuffle the front page, I made an article Live and set the one displaying to Hidden. They both displayed on the front page, changed Hidden to Draft, no dice. I ended up creating another section and move the article there to get it out of the way. In this front page section there are other articles with a Hidden status, but they don’t display.
One more thing, when changing the status to Hidden, it reset the time of the article to now. I guess in trying to figure out the issue, I opened up the More section and the check box was checked by default and I saved the article. Shouldn’t this check box be only checked by default on new articles?

I can’t replicate the hidden article display problem.
Shouldn’t this check box be only checked by default on new articles?
No. It’s assumed that you want the article’s date to be when it is made public. Hidden status is a part of workflow, just like Draft, not intended for customizing how the front page acts.

I figured it out, it was “Send “Last-Modified” header?” set to “Yes”
When I set it to “No”, moved the article back to the front section and all is well.
But it’s strange nonetheless, the cached copy showed the old article, while showing the new one also?

I had send last mod turned on too. Is it possible your browser was misbehaving?

It could be possible that IceWeasal may be the culprit.
I just checked all my sites and made sure that send last modified was off, better safe than sorry.
As for Hidden being in the workflow, I always thought that it would be used on articles that you had published and decided to hide, sort of like seasonal posts, etc.
