txp:linklist tag form

The default form for the txp:linklist tag is plainlinks, which is not protected from deletion.

While cleaning up one of my sites, I deleted this form and my links went away, I was assuming it was using the protected Links form.

Also, does anyone have a shortlist of all the forms shipped with a default install that can be deleted without causing problems, thanks.

Re: txp:linklist tag form

There is this: Default forms , the only other guideline that I know of is the presence or absence of the check boxes on the forms page.

Re: txp:linklist tag form

Rick, yes I’ve seen the default forms and I also thought the absence of check boxes was a given that a form was not needed.

I’m trying to get a better understanding of the templating and I want to do a clean install, get rid of all the fluff and build templates from there.

Re: txp:linklist tag form

The plainlinks default for linklist is the only default setting that’s tweeked that way that I’m aware of, my temptation if that were too bothersome would be to change that default in the source. That, of course, wouldn’t be a good trade-off unless you were doing repeating installs from a single set of source files, and you were willing to make that mod anytime you upgraded your source.

It would make a simple patch to change that default, and might be worth the trouble.

Re: txp:linklist tag form

Yeah, I think I’m going to do that and default it to ‘links’, no uppercase on the name for consistency.

Then I’ll use my modded source for any new sites I install. Just upload the source files and populate the database from a SQL export, no install needed.
