Special Search in a Real Estate Site
I’m planning to manage a Real Estate website with Textpattern, I’m sure that it’s possible and not so difficult, but there’s something that I don’t know how to do it:
a good properties browser!
How to organize things to give the visitors the possibility to make a search and find a property between to prices, or how to find properties with 3 or 4 rooms, etc.
What do you think? any idea?
Thx in advance!

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
I wouldn’t begin to know how to do this in a drill down fashion, but one plugin that could get most of what you want is rss_unlimited_categories. There’s also chh_articles_related that uses the keyword field to make relationships, but I’m not thinking it’s been updated for 4.0.4 yet. I haven’t looked at your site in a while I guess, I like the new design a lot!
find a property between to prices
This will be the tricky part I would say. I think you are going to have to get clever with custom fields here.

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
Thank you Soulship! I’m going to put my hands on this project this afternoon. I’ll take a look at this plugins!
is it possible to make a search for posts with an specific field?
Eg.: browse for posts with something in the custom field called “price” (I guess that will need some conditional here! if price is THIS show THAT if not … etc.)

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
I’m a little tired today but I started to think again in this subject.
I can’t figure how to do that kind of search, Eg: search for a house between two prices (the price of course goes in a Custom Field)
Any help?
Any example on How to develop a Real Estate website with Textpattern?
Thx in advance, once again!

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
Why not offer a few price ranges as categories?

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
Alex Dukal:
You will want to use: glz_custom_fields
This plug in will handle all the heavy lifting you are looking for in terms of creating a Real Estate Website. You will need to use some custom programming for price ranges, but for more static information (ie bedrooms; bathrooms; location) this plug in will handle your needs, as well as provide you flexability for updating your infoprmation.

Re: Special Search in a Real Estate Site
Thanks! The Gerhard Plugin is an awesome and useful plugin, but I prefer to Hack Textpattern in the way we talked here and here
The problem is not the back end or the site organization, actually the only point that Im worried is about ‘how to create a form to search using specific info’: Eg.
Search for: between prices, zone or neighborhood, type (house, office, appartment, duplex, etc.), beds, etc. and obtain a list of properties under that parameters.
Thx again!
