Re: Give us back our caption!
that was my initial thoughts about it… It would be great to have options for both
ie a form where we can have <txp:some_new_image_tag /><txp:image_caption />
And from there we can be calling the form from the teplates (for general images) or individual articles (for galleries with image categories)

Re: Give us back our caption!
The upgrade to 405 was almost seamless but I was still disappointed to see that I had to edit the taghandlers again so as to enable the html in the caption field…

Hi colak,
would you mind to share a little explanation on what has been changed? :D
Thanks!

Re: Give us back our caption!
Hi Julián,
There was a problem (with at least one of my sites) with taghandlers.php since 4.0.4. The $caption
was used in the title
and as I was using html and javascript functions within that field they were not parsed properly. 4.0.7 seems to have solved this problem.

Is it perhaps because the contents of the image tag (among others) now have escape="html"
as the default behaviour in 4.0.7?

Re: Give us back our caption!
having said thatI am happy with this, i still wish that there was an in built method in a tag form to call the caption rather than having it just as a title
attribute…

Does my tentative patch submission go some way towards giving what you want? If so, please feel free to test it, as it needs a lot of feedback from real people to see whether the tag balance is correct or whether the patch needs to encompass more (or less).
The patch may need updating to the latest SVN rev, but since all the tags in the patch are new except for a 3-line change in both <txp:image />
and <txp:thumbnail />
, it’s fairly easy to apply to any rev with simple copy n paste.
I’d like to see something similar to that make its way into 4.0.8 and would prefer to get the functionality ironed out very soon, so any and all feedback is most welcome.
