search results are blank

I’m getting no errors, but nothing is showing up where the results should be.

Here’s my page template:

<txp:if_search>
<txp:php>if($_GET['q']){echo "<h2>Search Results for <em>".$_GET['q']."</em></h2>";}//</txp:php>
<ul>
<txp:article limit="25" sortby="section" sortdir="asc" searchsticky="1" />
</ul>
</txp:if_search>

but that just outputs

<h2>Search Results for <em>pie</em></h2>
<ul class="teasers">
</ul>

No matter what I search for.
Does this suggest anything obvious?

cheers in advance

Re: search results are blank

I can answer that myself – it suggests the most obvious thing of all – I am an eejit.
My results form was full of if_sections that had no place on this site. Thats what you get for cloning Txp installs!

Re: search results are blank

hmmmm
I should’ve checked before I thought it would be that simple to fix!

In fact whatever I put in the search_results form makes no difference. I always get the same (lack of) results. I’m still using 4.03 for this site, and I replaced the /publish/search.php file to make sure I hadn’t broken it along the way, but no difference. The problem remains.

Re: search results are blank

  • Where’s the class="teasers" coming from?
  • Are your conditionals nested properly?
  • Does debugging mode display any errors?
  • Also, are you sure the term is posted (covering bases)?

Re: search results are blank

thanks jm

Where’s the class="teasers" coming from?
Aah, that’s in the template, but I cut it out of the post for simplicity

Are your conditionals nested properly?
The conditionals in the results form? yes
But in fact if I bypass that form altogether and use an ‘unconditional’ form to output, I still get no results

Does debugging mode display any errors?
Yes – way more than I’d like! I’m afraid I cant really make much sense of them.

A problem occured while loading the plugin: sgb_url_handler -> Notice: Undefined index: PATH_INFO on line 80
tag_error <txp:article form=“search_results” limit=“25” sortby=“section” sortdir=“asc” searchsticky=“1” /> -> Textpattern Error: Can’t find FULLTEXT index matching the column list
select *, unix_timestamp(Posted) as uPosted, match (Title,Body) against (‘pie’) as score from `textpattern` where 1 and Status >= ‘4’ and Posted < now() and (Title rlike ‘pie’ or Body rlike ‘pie’) and Section != ‘about’ and Section != ‘guestbook’ order by section asc limit 0, 25 on line 61

Also, are you sure the term is posted (covering bases)?
Not sure what you mean here…

cheers for your help

Re: search results are blank

You have removed your FULLTEXT index; you need to put it back. We don’t support hacked Textpattern installations. Do a search on the forum/look in the Resolved Troubleshooting sub-forum and you’ll find out how to set it right again.

Thank you.
