Hosts with known incompatibilites with Textpattern

Does anybody feel like it would be worthwhile to do two things:

  1. Come up with a list of hosts/server types that are incompatible with TXP and post it at the WIKI
  2. Come up with a helpful list of questions to ask a client (who already has a host/site set up) who would like to switch to TXP.

I started thinking about this after my recent troubles with yahoo small business

Re: Hosts with known incompatibilites with Textpattern

EasyCGI does not allow mod-rewrite, doesn’t use apache, and can’t run anything past the homepage on TXP sites. Check out Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust

I know you have had trouble with Dreamhost , even though they seem to have no problems with TXP their reliability leaves enough to be desired.

Textdrive’s user interface is not user friendly, but I am assuming they run TXP just fine (I’d hope so).

There’s another host that’s hates TXP (really bad IIS server), but I can’t remember its name.

I run two Txp sites on TextDrive without any problems whatsoever.

Edit: and of course, the main Textpattern site and the lang server both run on Textpattern on TextDrive.

I have been looking around, and mediatemple has caught my eye? Does anyone use mediatemple, and how good is the interface, customer service, etc?

Re: Hosts with known incompatibilites with Textpattern

If you all care to make a new thread for hosts you like, that would be awesome. (Eric I will be docking your pay by 20% for throwing the thread off track :)

I’m really mostly interested in documenting which hosts people have issue with.

Sthmtc,
to verify, you are saying that you’re experience with Strato, is that clean urls are not possible. Is that right?
Specifically, they are missing mod_rewrite?

:)

Re: Hosts with known incompatibilites with Textpattern

Hmm,
Well, I should have looked for that.
Is incompatibility the opposite of compatibility, or does compatability include its reverse?

Ah well.
Just trying to be helpful :P

Remembered it. aplus.net is awful, at least with the IIS server. Even with clean URLs off, commenting was seriously messed up.
