How do I back up my site?
In light of my host screwing up my blog recently . . . . I’d like to know how to back up everything so that I could reinstall if necessary.
I’m code-retarded, so please go slowly. :)
Thanks

Re: How do I back up my site?
Well there are two things to backup, the site and the database.
Site: Use an FTP program to download a local copy.
Database: See if your host gives you access to phpMyAdmin via their control panel and do a backup from there.

Re: How do I back up my site?
RAW – This isn’t a complete backup, but I use rss_admin_db to backup my database. It’s a TXP plugin that will give you access to the database from the admin side of TXP and let you create backups on the fly of your database, with the option to restore to it.
I create the backup file and then store it on a local external hdd. I’m not sure how valuable the content is for your blog, but for me it will suffice. If your content is extremely valuable, I would recommend using various 3rd hosting sites that will ensure integrity of the files.
With regards to images and files I upload, my hosting company does daily backups for me. I’m sure other people have different methods of backing files/images.
