Re: Any plans to greatly improve Theme installation?

Yes that aspect is one of the large items that we like to improve on for a future major release.

Re: Any plans to greatly improve Theme installation?

I understand that this is a very common feature request, but I’m concerned that simplifying theme installation might mean limiting Textpattern’s incredible flexibility. Could this be done without changing the whole pages/forms scheme of things by importing and exporting the contents of the txp_page and txp_form tables? You could wrap the SQL code in PHP, then encode it like you do the plugins.

You don’t need to worry about losing functionality or power.

Re: Any plans to greatly improve Theme installation?

i do wish something like mcw_templates was integrated, so we could easily import and export whole themes (forms, pages, styles)

Re: Any plans to greatly improve Theme installation?

kemie, I use mcw_templates on all my sites, excellent plugin.

Now for something like this plugin to work, we need some kind of naming standard for forms, pages and styles or else we get stuff overwritten when we install a new theme.
